Hello There Melissa!

Hope you'd remember us. Attached is Esme's photot taken this moring. She did turn out to be a real princess! She is our best friend and we do miss her even when we are out for half an hour for grocery shopping, etc. Otherwwise she travels with us everywhere. BTW, I'd like to let you know that she has never peed in the house, never chewed sth. belongs to us, never had any bad behaviours. She does like snow a lot and wears various colorful coats and dresses. She is so stylish :) Everybody adors her in our neighbourhood. So I"d like to thank you once more that you sent us a miracle. :) We are truly in love with her.

Elaine Delaney - a life of service to community.

Florence Elaine Turville Delaney, dubbed The Indispensable Ms. Delaney in a Winchester Star article extolling her extraordinary volunteer service to her community, died at her Winchester home on August 2, 2010. Her family and her ever-present collie dog were at her side. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Demasco, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was the beloved sister of the late Admiral William C. Turville, USNMC and was the daughter-in-law of the late Admiral and Mrs. Henry R. Delaney, USNDC.

With her growing awareness that her devoted husband would survive her, Mrs. Delaney requested that he receive a posthumous gift from her. Thirteen days following her death, an 8-week old puppy arrived from Black river Falls, Wisconsin. Willy was presented to Mrs. Delaney's husband on his 90th birthday. Her family decided to give Willy a fitting name for his American Kennel Club Pedigree; Hickory Creeks Willy That The Angels Sent. As in life, Mrs. Delaney had seen to every detail. She created a satisfying and productive life of community involvement as she had hoped to, but she had always kept a steady gaze on her family and touched each of thier lives with her loving ways. Gifts in her memory would be most welcome by the EnKa Society 1037 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890, the Winchester Senior Association/Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Rd., Winchester, MA 01890, the Collie Rescue League of New England, Inc. or the University of Pennsylvania's Undergraduate Scholarship fund.

It's hard to buy a puppy when you can't go and see it, but Hickory Creeks makes everything so easy and they let you know exactly how. It's like they have a puppy pre-school program and everything they do makes it easier for the puppy to quickly adapt to a new home. Our puppy (Rider now Kaminari) was already crate-trained, mostly housebroken, didn't fuss at riding in the car, is easy to bath and groom, came pest-free and well-socialized to human interaction. We got a complete puppy starter kit/care package (food, toys, treats, training guide, etc.) so even people who have never had a dog before will be totally ready from day one. And, you won't even feel like you missed out on their early puppyhood because photos and videos are provided. It was a bit expensive for us, but well worth the money.

Duke - BUSTED!

Hi Bill & Melissa,

Duke is just fine @65 lbs. at just over 8 1/2 months old-and still gaining weight, of course. He's trying to cope with Arkansas weather which has been unbearable even for humans these past couple of months. It's been in the high 90's or just over 100, so I'm sure he longs for Black River Falls-type weather. He handles it better than we do, I think. We are very happy with him. The potty training was easy and has been a non-event for a number of months now. I think we are as trained as he is, so we seldom have an accident. He is super friendly with everyone and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. We've learned to not feed him steak bones or any bones that can be chewed down to a relatively small size because he gets tired of chewing on them and swallows what's left. Not good because that stops him up and he has diarrhea for almost 3 days before it works through his system.

Duke is a good traveler by car, motor home or our small airplane-as long as he can see us. He just settles down and sleeps. He gets a little ancy around 9:00 p.m. and we know it's time to put him in his crate in the living room for the night. He's good for at least 9-10 hours. He is good at pressing on the buzzer box when he wants out or wants attention. He now has full run of the house, but we still keep an eye on him since he's still a puppy and likes to get into things. He's happy on the ceramic floor of the bathrooms where it is cooler-and he can chew up the toilet paper and then get a drink out of the toilet if we don't keep the seat down. The other day we were gone and he got his head caught in a small waste basket with a swinging cover in the laundry room. We arrived home and he just stood there. He didn't wag his tail or anything and it was like he was saying "just get this thing off of me!"

All are amazed at his size as we are as well. He likes the cool baths we give him outside and he likes the combing /brushing as well. He's shopped at PetSmart and likes to play ball and play with squeaky toys just for the noise-especially when we are watching TV,. We try to walk about 1.5 miles each morning and he's very good on the leash. I think he'd like to chase cars if we let him, so we watch that closely. He likes to try to catch butterflies and grasshoppers which is good. He wouldn't hurt another animal at all if it (even a a skunk) came up to him. He'd just want to play.

Well, have to go now. I just wanted to way you both did a great job of training him before we picked him up which made it much easier for Carol and me. As far as we know, he's healthy in every way and we give him the Frontline and Interceptor regularly each month. Hopefully, things will just keep getting better.

He is doing beautiful! No accidents in the house yet (not even one), my other dog seems to be adjusting to him well and he loves to aggrivate her! I took him to the vet yesterday and he weighed just under 18Lbs. I did watch the youtube vidio on his ears and havent gone to get the glue yet but i plan to go this eve. If i have a problem i will email you for help! We love him and cant wait to see how beautiful he grows up to be!

Good morning!

I just wanted you to know he is doing fine! I am sure your kids are wondering and I wanted quell any anxiety.

Yesterday was a day of exploration, naps, eating and meeting other pets and people. Everyone has excepted him, except our house cat who is being extra cautious around him. But he is a sweet cat--he did sniff the new puppy while he was sleeping and retreated. So I have no worried there. There is no aggression, just fear. And that is fine.

He was quiet through most of the night and today has had his breakfast, played, ran and is now napping.

Thank you so much! He is a most marvelous and sweet dog and you are remarkable people and breeders!

We are doing well. The cat is slowly accepting his presence. He has an outdoor cat who does get close to him. Our indoor cat is always a little careful.

I do need your help. He is nipping our poor old Honey to death. I know he wants to play but he is playing rough. I never had the chance to meet his parents--so I was wondering if you had any suggestions on keeping him from going after her every night. I've tried letting it go, stepping in, diverting his attention. They get along on walks and naps and the rest of the day--but she isn't a barker or a player--so he is just mauling her.

I certainly want to do the right thing for both of them as they are in the house together--I know if I respond in a better more consistent way it will help.

He is walking on a leash and knows sit, and come! He has already stopped nipping at me. Very smart dog.

So this morning, little Emmett started right away with the pestering of Honey. I took them into the sun room and stepped through the glass door to see what would happen. It stopped. So I came back out and petted Honey, and it started!

After that I attached the leash and gave gentle corrections while I petted Honey. If Emmett stayed still I petted him.

I guess the problem was me after all!

Thanks for your help. I'll keep up trying to think like two smart dogs!

Good evening Melissa, just a quick note to say Esme is doing great. She plays wonderfully with my babies and Freckles. They made such a great couple that I had to get Freckles neutered before it is planned! Esme turned out to be my daughter, not a dog. I brush her everyday and get her skirts! I took her to the vet last week just for a check up, flea control and stool check and everything was great. I will send you a detailed email and her photos later. Warmest regards. Begum

Esme has been doing great since yesterday. She very easily got used to my babies and Freckles (the beagle). She slept quietly in her crate all night long and got out around 7 am in the morning to patty. She peed in the house just once. She is a wonderful puppy. We just fall in love with her. She was so sweet that I was about to get her to my bed to sleep with us last night but did not want to destroy her crate training.
I will send you the “welcome party" photos later. She was so beautiful and elegant and sweet in her pink dress with her pink hat. Today we are having a blast in our yard. All my babies are playing and I am impressed watching them. Everybody is so happy.

Good Evening

Bella made it in great shape. They brought her in the cargo area and she was very calm in her crate, no whining, howling, barking. Her crate was dry. We let her out and she let her stretch her legs. On the way home we gave her some water and some food. Once we got her home, we put her out in the potty area, and she pee'd and pooped, and chased the girls around the yard. She came in the house and met the golden and the two of them sniffed. She's wondered through the house and played with her toys and laid down and took a short peaceful nap.

I thought I'd send you a quick update. We have decided to name her Mia. She is doing really well. She has slept through every night, no whining, howling, barking, and she's been dry each morning. She sits, and comes when asked. We're working on down and stand. She has not had a single accident in the house, I'm not sure if it's more a product of us taking her out frequently, or her just knowing not to go in the house, either way I'll take it.

She had a great long weekend; we have a second home on a small lake about an hour away. She made the trip really well, and we put her in the water a handful of time, and she swam with no problem. We figured it would help keep her cool. She seems really well adjusted and happy.

She's going to the vet on Friday for her checkup and next set of shots, and I expect she will do great there too.

Hi Melissa!

Just writing to tell you just how much we are enjoying our Lexi. She is so smart and so sweet, we love her so much! Growing like a weed! On our second kennel already! Seems like she has always been here. We enclosed our large deck with mesh so she can play out there if she wants and she has a little neighbor friend (Mocha) that comes over to play every day! Here is a somewhat recent picture. She is hard to take pictures of because she doesn't hold still long enough! LOL

Everything is going great! She is a joy and has made herself at home. She can sit and shake. We laugh so hard at her sometimes! She poops outside and pees outside most of the time. We mostly walk around the house and yard, at least until she gets use to walking on a leash. She walks good when there is another dog to walk with.
She is starting to learn to fetch and bring it back.
Feels like she has been here for a lot longer than 4 days. In a good way, I mean that. She seems very happy and has adjusted well. We love her so much!
She loves her toys!! She actually plays with them too! She really enjoys them! .
Well, thank you for all your hard work and e-mailing all this valuable information. It is much appreciated! Really nice to know that you are "only an e-mail away"

Hi Melissa!

Right now she is resting by my feet. She seems very content. We just had a vigorous game of fetch. She actually will bring the object back to me now to throw again. I took her out a couple of times during the night and will gradually ease back on that. Like you said, they can only hold it for a couple of hours. When she cried I wasn't sure what she wanted so I assumed she had to go potty. She ate and drank when we got home and then again this morning, you are right. GOOOOOD Appetite! She has also pooped this morning. That was very healthy! She is a smart and very awesome dog! Like you said, they thrive on praise! Lexi has adjusted very well and her favorite toy is the cat toy with balls hanging from it. Something my cat never ever played with! Glad I didn't get rid of it! It was so fun to take her into Petco and buy her a pink collar with polka dots and a matching leash! PINK! My first girl! We are crazy about her and plan to take her everywhere with us. She likes us too! We have both gotten a complete face wash already. So she is pretty much fetching and we are working on sitting. She comes very well when called! We are gonna swing by Petco for some more toys. Then we will go for a little walk on leash. She seems to have adjusted to that quickly also! She already has found my slipper. What a hoot! It is as big as she is!
I hope that I have put your mind at ease, somewhat. I don't blame you for worrying. She couldn't have parents that love her more! She did good riding in the car too! By the time we got her kennel and went to Petco it was almost 9:00 when we got home!
She was very lucky to have spent the first 7 weeks with you and your family. It shows how much you all cared for her.
I will call my Vet. Clinic to find out when they suggest she come in for a check up.

Hey Melissa,

Angus, who is almost 9 months old, and our Sheltie McKenzie, who is a year ½, are getting along swimmingly. They have a newly-fenced yard, and spend much of their time herding each other, which seems to delight them no end! Angus is just completing Obedience training, but knew most of the commands really well before the class. I wanted to make sure that he got along well with other dogs as well as other people, and he is doing well on both fronts. He has been a great addition to our family and we love him to pieces. And he’s turning out to be a beautiful fellow, as you can see!

I just wanted to show you a couple funny pictures of Molly on her fist birthday! I made her a little doggie birthday cake with peanut butter (her favorite) and she shared it with my friend's dogs. I think she likes living in Louisiana, we go to the park at least once a week with my friend's dogs. We have started leaving the door open to her kennel at night, and she sleeps in it anyway or next to our bed on the floor. We are hoping to eventually let her stay out during the day when no one is home.

All I can say is that Kaiah is a bundle of joy and the most well adjusted puppy I have ever seen in my life. She greeted us at the airport like she had known us all of her life. We were so worried that she would be traumatized by the plane ride but that was not the case. She greeted us with kisses and a tail that never quit wagging. She had a very good night and was delighted this morning when we had snow on the ground. She loves the snow and all she wanted to do was play. She has done very well with her pottying and we sure thank you for the wonderful start that you gave her with this. She certainly knows her name and comes when she is called unless something majorly attracts her when we are out in the yard. She sure loves to play and I think this is the most exercise Sweetie has had in a long time. Kaiah has no fears and that is wonderful. So often puppies are fearful and yet nothing seems to bother her. She sure loves the bully sticks.....she found one of Sweetie's that was partially chewed and has spent hours chewing. I have been buying them from Best Bully Sticks since they are pure Brazilian beef and no waste.

Again, I wanted you to know how delighted we are with Kaiah. It is wonderful to have such a happy, joyous puppy and we couldn't ask for a better Christmas present. Also, I was very touched by the tote bag with Kaiah's picture.....that was such a surprise and really special.

Amber (Rosalie) is doing very well here in her new home. She is a very good girl and very well trained. Thank you for that! I took her to pick up my son at school and of course all the kids went crazy fo her. We took her to the back of the school field so she could run freely. She loved it - and something happened. There was a car coming in the parking lot and a small 5 year old child was just about to dart for the lot where the car was coming when Amber stopped him immediately circling around the boy and barking stopping the boy from going out into the street. All the moms were totally amazed!!!!!! I new right then she is special beyond what I ever imagined! Just sharing. Hope all is well!

Certainly, a job well done indeed!!! We do appreciate all you have done in training Amber, it makes the transition soo much easier too. She has been going potty outside since we got her and sleeping through the night. I hardly feel that she's a puppy at all she is so well behaved and just a delight to have. Maggie has adjusted very well to life at our house, she enjoys playing with our other dogs and loves being outside! She is still making daily efforts to try and find a cat to play with her, but so far she is rejected everytime. She is feeling much more comfortable around our horses. I can take her out to the barn and she stays right in the barn area while I'm cleaning stalls or tacking up my horse. We take her out for breakfast on Sundays and a few other places that are dog friendly. We have received many compliments that she is such a well behaved puppy. She eats very well and has only had a few accidents since we got her and we really appreciate the crate training she received from you. I love not having to get up during the night to let her out. She will sit and lay down on command and has gotten much better about coming when we call her. She is a wonderful dog and we are so glad to have her!

Myrtle is doing really well, and sits, stays, comes, and lays down upon command. She has so far produced a lot of hair, and a beautiful mane. She is growing rapidly, and knows what she likes to eat, because we tried to give her chicken flavored, large breed pupy food. But she nearly refused to eat it, and showed her great dislike for it, for she didn't race for the food, but hung back and sniffed at it, at times, she wouldn't even finish it, so we switched her over to lamb and rice puppy food, now she enjoys her meals immensely, and will all but knock you over during mealtimes in her hast!! :) All in all she is doing fine, and enjoys playing fetch, and racing around the yard with the kids.

I just wanted you to know that Olivia is doing great! She is such a good girl. She did great on the trip to VA and back. If my children are playing outside, she has to be right with them. Nadine's preschool teacher told me that she talks about Olivia a lot at school. Austin brought a picture of her in for show and tell to his kindergarten class. My husband recently dislocated his shoulder and Olivia has been right by his side!

We all love her so much and couldn't imagine life without her, as she is a part of our family!! Thanks for breeding such a wonderful dog!! Keep up the good work.

House breaking was a snap, but stopping the puppy biting routine is a bit more challenging. I know we will win out, as love conquers all. Nella is doing great. Attached are a few pics from spring and over the summer. We take her hiking with us in the state parks when we go. We took two 1-week trips over the summer and had to board her at the vet, but she seemed to adapt to that pretty well. She is done with her training classes, and is healthy overall. She sleeps at the foot of our bed, but is up about 10 times a night checking on the kids.

Molly is doing great. She's full of energy and a bit stubborn at the moment, but I think it's because she's like a 'teenager' right now. She is doing better and better on the leash. We recently got her a retractable leash and I think she really likes it. For certain parts of our walk I let her run around in a field by our house, and so for the rest of the walk when we are actually in a neighborhood, she does really well and doesn't pull. She is still such a sweet girl and she loves to lie on our little sofa with us at night while we watch TV. Most of the time she is so good and she never gets into things she's not supposed to. Yesterday morning I woke up and saw that she had removed over half the stuffing in the bed that's in her crate. I thought she had chewed through it, but she actually figured out how to not only unzip the cover, but also unzip the pillow inside!! Then she rearranged the stuffing inside her crate to make it more comfortable I guess! I'm going to send you some more pictures. By the way, in one of the pictures she's eating a "pup-cone" that we got from the 3 Dog Bakery, she loves going there. Just wanted to make sure you knew we weren't feeding her an actual ice cream cone, ha-ha.
Everything you did with her before we got her has helped so so much- especially the crate training. We still crate her at night and when we aren't home, and she seems to really like her crate. A lot of times when we are home, she chooses to go in there to sleep rather than other places around the house. And I'm pretty sure she hasn't had a single accident since I last talked to you. She barks quite persistently when she has to go out!!

Leo is doing great. We are constantly getting comments from people on how beautiful and well behaved he is. I can't thank you enough for all of the preliminary training that you did with him, but it definitely paid off. We go on several walks a day, and he does very well on a leash - although he stops in his tracks whenever he hears another dog barking. I think he is just scared, but it takes some coaxing to get him to keep going. As for the potty training, it has gone very well. He has had a couple of accidents in our garage, but nothing major, and both were probably my fault. He does great at staying in our yard, and he has a lot of fun playing with our 3 boys. He is great at fetching. I was amazed because the first day here, he would go get balls, bring them back and drop them consistently. She is a wonderful dog. Getting quite big now and yes she has not had any accidents and is sleeping without a crate as well. We are very pleased with Myrtle and yes that is still her name. The vet told us she is very healthy. We switched her dog food to a large puppy food as the vet says she needs to not grow too fast as she was on a high nutrition puppy food that was not specifically for the large breeds. She is doing alright on it but does not like the taste as well.

2/3/09 "This is Allie a few weeks ago. She is a real sweetheart--even though she finds herself in mischief every once in a while. She will sit and shake hands and loves to go for rides in the car. Until recently the weather was not all that great and she didn't enjoy being cooped up in the house. Sunshine and exercise outside have made her a happy girl."

Hattie is doing great. We love her so much. She is a very good dog. She loves Chloe, our yorkie. It is so funny to watch them wrestle and play. My son in law works for us and brings his border collie, Mandy here every day, and Hattie loves Mandy too. She is healthy and beautiful and very much a part of our family. She has been great with my grand daughter who is 14 months old. They have grown up together. She is gentle and likes to herd her away from the road. You bred a fabulous dog and we are grateful. I have enclosed a couple of pictures. Good to hear from you.

Duchess is wonderful! She is a BEAUTIFUL dog! The pulling on the leash problem has been 100% helped with the "gentle leader"!! No problems and we can actually walk her! LOL When we are on the beach walking her people stop and comment on how pretty she is and call her Lassie!!! Of course.....LOL

Duchess is Jachin’s best friend.....and it's actually hard to discipline Jachin when Duchess is in the same room! Very protective. That's great!

I will have to send you a picture of her!! She weighs a little over 50lbs right now....and loves to ride in the Hummer! I just say "ride" and she jumps up!

This is Ayiana (aka Hermione). She is 15 weeks old, learning new thing around her everyday. She's very curious and also very active. She makes all my neighbors smiling and love kids very much. This was easiest adoption ever and I know it's not just Collie being friendly but because of love and training she received at Hickory Creeks. Sheilah had 7 puppies born 6-15-2009 @ 8 :00 am central time. 3 boys and 4 girls. Sheilah is a wonderful mommy! She is so attentive to her babies! We are so proud of her! Top picture is 'Daddy and Son'.

Alan at 1 year old. He is a good boy with lots of energy to burn at times. He gets along well with all other dogs he meets at parks and training classes. His chewing has decreased, except for grandma's hearing aide!!!! He seems to still be growing, and although there are days when he is quiet and layed back there are days when he is like CUJO!!!

Molly is doing really great; she is such a good girl! We haven't had any problems at all with her being in her crate, and she hardly ever has accidents. She does really well with other dogs and people. She is always so friendly, especially with kids. Anytime we are outside and she hears or sees a child she just stops and has to go see them! She is always more gentle and calm around them. She does pretty good with our cats two. One of them, Vinnie, still just does not like her! We think once she is older and calmer he will come around. Our other cat Copper likes her though. Molly tries to play with him but he is so lazy that he just plops on the floor next to her and she just steps on him. But usually he will let her lick his ears. I've attached a picture of the two of them. I also attached a picture of Jonathan when he was a little boy with one of his grandmother's collies that looks a lot like Molly!

Duchess is doing great and is just a huge part of our family! She LOVES taking walks on the beach. She sits, paw shake and will lie down...on command. She is very good around children and so friendly. She loves getting a bath and she a Jachin are just best buddies!! They play all the time together. One day I went to Jachin's door and he had Duchess in a sleeping bag and said they were having a camp out!!! LOL Duchess loves riding in the Hummer and is SO good when we travel. The staff at the vet’s office loves her. The Manager actually was commenting on how you just don't see collies anymore and they are so beautiful. I had to tell him all about Hickory Creeks Collies and where Duchess came from. The Staff had to show her off to everyone in the office! She was a big hit!

Melissa,
I can tell she spent a lot of time in the house with you because she follows me around.
She's doing really well and very well behaved. We changed her name to Marley and she responded to it right away. We are enjoying her so much she is the best dog we have ever had. She and Riley are the best of friends, partners in crime actually. The have a great time playing together around our property. Her check up at the vet went very well, he was very impressed by her and also by the care you gave her. I haven't had to put her in her crate for weeks; she sleeps with Riley and never has an accident. The only thing we have to watch are our shoes, she sometimes comes walking out of our mud room with one in her mouth. Thanks for sending us such an amazing dog, we couldn't be happier!

Alan is 7 1/2 months now and is weighing in at 68 pounds. He is a very good boy. He loves his rawhides, but also likes to get into the brillo! He graduated with honors from his training class, sitting, heeling., lying down and making figure eight circles, although I'm sure Melissa had him doing this before we got him. We love him and he is a wonderful addition to our family!!!!

Laddie (aka Palmer) was neutered Monday and all went well. He is such a sweet dog. He continues to amuse us daily. One of the funniest things he did was to growl and bark at his reflection in the window. He was so brave. We finished basic obedience and will try to get in to another class just so he can be around some other dogs. I can't thank you enough Melissa for house breaking him and teaching him some of the basic commands. I recommend you to everyone. Laddie is wonderful! Sharon Winga

Nella is growing to be a beautiful dog. She just got spayed and is handling it pretty well. We have just watched the movie Lassie recently, and we have been making so many comments on how the two dogs look alike. Nella is also doing good with friends. She usually hangs out with the min. poodles next door. All the kids love her. We even taught her to sit, give me paw, lay down, come, heel, be quiet, and slow down. She even understands some of the commands in Polish. Keep up the good work with raising those wonderful puppies.

Sheilah is growing up so beautifully and big! She is a typical 'teenager' right now, sometimes getting into mischief, and enjoys playing with her big brother Octoberie. When she has the opportunity, she also loves to chase Seven, our cat around the backyard! Sheilah's very smart, and understands so much already. Some of the things she understands and does are, sit, lay down, high five, lets go eat, go in your crate, go get tug of war, where's squeak?, wanta go outside?, lets go bye bye,wheres your leash?, get in the car, go get a drink of water, well go on, and come here. I love it when she just sits and watches me when I'm cleaning or doing whatever around the house. Its like shes learning what everything is, and is truely interested in what I am doing! That is just so cute!

Melissa,

Hattie is such a good dog. She weighs 43 lbs and is very healthy. Tomorrow morning she will be spade. She gets more beautiful every day. She loves toys and we find them outside every day along with our dirty clothes if they aren't put up. She is well behaved, hates to be scolded...she will run to a corner and put her nose in it like a naughty child. She shakes hands and is learning other tricks. She had been completely house broken for a couple months and loves her doggie doors to outside. We couldn't love her more or be more pleased with her and her breeder. She brings us alot of love and laughter as well.
